A gorgeous lake side summer wedding with lots of trimmings. I’ve known Brooke for a few years now as I was the photographer at her sister’s wedding back in August 2005. So I was honored to be her photographer too.
So how did they first meet? How did James propose? I asked Brooke these and other questions and here are her responses.
HOW WE MET: Jim and I met as co-conselors at State Farm Day Camp. It turns out we went to elementary school together and only grew up a few blocks from one another, however we have no recollection of the other one in grade school what so ever!
HOW HE PROPOSED: Jim had been trying to figure out for weeks how to propose to me. For several weeks leading up to the wedding Jim and I had been going through some of the keepsakes his mom had kept from his childhood. After several ideas from friends, his mom found a scrap book she had made for him that had art projects and what not that he had made when he was little. On one such project he made a valentine that said “Love is…Hugging, Kissing and Marrying” he had the ring attached to this valentine; he got me to look through the scrapbook one night with him and as I came to that page he got down on one knee and proposed to me! I will also mention that at first I thought he was playing a sick joke on me and I lost the ring momentarily in the couch, however after he looked super serious and like he might get sick, I realized he was serious and of course said yes!
WHERE WAS IT and WHY HERE? Our wedding was at Timber Pointe and the reason we chose Timber Pointe was for the natural beauty that it has and we had a fairly large wedding. Thankfully Timber Pointe was able to accommodate the size of our wedding!
THEME OR STYLE: Our theme was shabby chic. we chose this because Jim is vary laid back, and I tend to take things like weddings and decorating a bit more seriously. This mix seemed to fit both of our needs, in the end I think our wedding was laid back but still had some refined elements.
A MEMORABLE WEDDING MOMENT:
a.) Bride’s Answer: I Almost started to cry as I said my vows. Definitely didn’t think I would cry.
b.) Groom’s Answer: When Brooke messed up the vows and I had to say mine on the fly.
FAVORITE PHOTO and WHY? #625, We both like how natural it is, neither of us are looking at the camera we are both just very in the moment and enjoying our wedding day! (see first photo below)
It was great wedding guys, thanks for having us be there!
