Dear Brides,
Welcome back our special guest blogger and friend, make-up artist D’Shannon Llewellyn.
We know all of you are ready to be a Perfect Picture Bride so enjoy Part III on the great Bridal Beauty Series!
Ladies, did you know that Coco Chanel made the tan popular back in the 1920′s?

A healthy glow will always be in vogue. Sport your tan with just as much style and class by following this guide.
If you plan to “fake-bake” or enjoy the weather Victoria’s Secret style, these simple self tanning tips will still be a great addition to your routine.
DO…use a self tanner or find a professional to airbrush your tan. If you self tan, try using surgical gloves to apply the product. Then make sure to apply it in the back of your hands so the tan tapers out naturally.
DON’T…go into the spray booth (it stinks and you will be a oompa-loompa!)
DO… exfoliate methodically using body gloves or other scrubbing device before you self tan.
DON’T…use abrasive scrubs than can scratch your skin. Self tanner will grab onto scratches.
DO…use moisturizer all over before you tan, with special attention on areas that tend to be dry. If you plan to self tan instead of a professional airbrush, remember to use lotion on dry areas before AND after you apply the tanner. This is the best way to avoid dark patches and ensure a natural look.
DON’T…forget to lotion your hand and feet! If you self tan make sure to wash the palms or your hands, knuckles, nail beds, underneath nails and the same routine for toes when you have finished applying the tanner.
DO…have one or several practice sessions so you know how your tan will look, and where to focus with moisturizer. You may need a couple of tries to prefect your own self tan. If you get and airbrush, please schedule a trial just as you would for your hair & makeup. Not all airbrush tans are equal, but a true professional can work a near miracle!
DON’T …try something the day before your wedding that you have never used before! Whether you work with a professional or with some over the counter product, you don’t want a catastrophe on your big day.
DO…maintain your tan with a gradual tan daily body lotion. This is a great product to take on the honeymoon too! You don’t have to worry about all the rules of self tanning with this lotion: just apply and go!
DON’T…jump into white clothes with a wet self tan. Avoid sweating and water for at least 4 hours, and consider wearing a darker color until the tan is set. A laundry booster will remove most traces of self tan left on clothes.
DO…consider applying a self tan before bed, then wash and go in the morning.
DON’T…overdo it. A healthy glow is gorgeous. Looking like you just came out of the frying pan IS NOT pretty. If you don’t know when to stop, ask someone you trust or consult your makeup artist.
